Military and Intelligence Sectors Threaten Trump Presidency
The National Security Agency and associated intelligence services appear to be throwing in with mass protesters in an attempt to rid the White House of an incompetent and narcissistic “would be dictator.” While the current American President treats his position as an opportunity for family business enrichment he also appoints family and friends to fill sensitive posts requiring expertise and experience. Now the fourth branch of government or Intelligence Establishment has checkmated the president with leaks and worse. Similarly the lower courts have ruled against his initial Muslim ban as unconstitutional.
The exit of disgraced General Mike Flynn as chief of the NSA, followed by the refusal of Vice Admiral Harward and former CIA chief, General David Petraeus to serve suggests the wheels are turning not far below the surface of government. The FBI Director met with congressional leaders last week to discuss the Trump administration and campaign team contacts with Putin.
None Dare Call it Treason.
Secretary of Defense Mattis recently told a NATO audience that, contrary to Trumpism, the USA would not be sharing information or military operations with the Russian Putin. The Secretary, a retired four-star U.S. Marine general said Russia was not a “mature” country. A second four-star U. S. Marine general John Kelly is in charge of Homeland Security. If worse comes to worse Mattis and Kelly may march into the White House and ask for Trump’s resignation. I believe we know whom the White House Marine Guard will obey.
The Pressure on Trump to resign is Building.
Speaking of America and current leadership, Senator John McCain, a war hero, told NATO members in Europe:
–“[The founders of the Munich conference] would be alarmed by an increasing turn away from universal values and toward old ties of blood and race and sectarianism.”
–“They would be alarmed by the hardening resentment we see toward immigrants and refugees and minority groups, especially Muslims.”
–“They would be alarmed by the growing inability, and even unwillingness, to separate truth from lies.”
“But what would alarm them most, I think, is a sense that many of our peoples, including in my own country, are giving up on the West, that they see it as a bad deal that we may be better off without, and that while Western nations still have the power to maintain our world order, it is unclear whether we have the will.”
McCain appears to be the only adult among republican leaders who puts country first. The Executive and Congressional branches may be lost but the Courts and Intelligence Community appear unwilling to “make a deal.” You can take the man out of the uniform but a military man whose men have sacrificed life and blood for the sake of the Republic do not easily forget their mission.
A Political liability
Politically, Trump has become a liability for the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives in the mid-term elections although Democratic Party leadership is weak kneed and ill-prepared to take advantage of GOP miscues. Massive protests, however, may soon dictate a new political environment. Even the corporatized Fifth Estate or press and media have begun to call Trump “liar.”
Whether we’ll have a peaceful transfer of power remains to be seen.
The spectacle of Jackbooted ICE agents arresting mothers and fathers, separating parents from their American-born U.S. Citizen children, appears distinctly unChristian. Rising anti-Semitism, due to White House councilors, appointed by Trump, represent the fascist aims of White Supremacy just as mass deportation of immigrants and arrests at Standing Rock represent the actions of the Trump’s Police State.
Trump is a danger to himself and others. He should be locked up with Rapunzel in his gilded cage. Those who profit from Treason and use the equity and income from American taxpayers, illegally, must pay the price. Ignorance of the traditions and laws of the United States of America is no excuse.
