Town Throws up Barricades: No Mask, No Service 

PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER – EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

By Proclamation of Civil Emergency by the Mayor of the Town of Taos
And Town Council Emergency Resolutions 20-10 and 20-27
And Public Health Order of the Governor and Health Secretary of the State of New Mexico

FACE MASKS OR COVERINGS REQUIRED

All persons, age 4 and older, shall be required to wear face masks or coverings when in a public place; including stores, restaurants, offices, all for-profit and non-profit organizations, churches, medical facilities, streets, parks, playgrounds, schools, and public and private gatherings. This order shall apply to all businesses and their employees, all customers, tourists, and any person outside of their own home, dwelling or permanent or temporary residential residence, regardless of whether they are full-time, part-time, out of state or out of town residents.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING REQUIRED

All employers and all owners of any facility open to the public, including all stores, restaurants, offices, for-profit and non-profit organizations, churches, galleries, museums, medical facilities, public facilities, parks, and schools, shall provide such physical, informational and supervisory measures as required in order to assure social distancing (a minimum of a 6 ft. radius between all persons) is maintained between all persons at all times. Additionally, any visitor, customer, client, patron, employee, attendee and any person in a public setting, place or gathering shall be required to maintain physical distancing between themselves and every other person they encounter.

PUBLIC GATHERINGS BANNED

All public and private events and gatherings of 5 persons or more, including house parties, BBQ’s, reunions, weddings, etc. are prohibited. Religious services and institutions must follow
State of New Mexico public health order occupancy guidelines for square footage and social distancing.

HOTELS, MOTELS, B&B’S, SHORT-TERM RENTALS RESTRICTED

Hotels, Motels, Bed and Breakfasts, Short-Term Rentals and other vacation rentals must observe the State of New Mexico public health order requiring not more than 50% occupancy as determined by square footage. Additionally, all hours of operation, noise ordinance limits and other restrictions and conditions placed on licenses to operate and all other Town codes apply.

FIREWORKS AND OPEN BURNING BANNED

A state of emergency due to drought conditions is declared and the sale or use of fireworks is hereby banned within the Town limits. No campfires or open burning of any kind is permitted and no burn permits shall be issued.

MANDATORY QUARANTINE OF ALL OUT OF STATE VISITORS

Per Public Health Order of the Governor and Health Secretary, all persons travelling to the State of New Mexico, in general, and the Town of Taos, specifically, from any other state for any reason other than medical personnel or for medically necessary reasons by air, vehicle or any means of conveyance are required to self-quarantine for a period of not less than 14 days.

All hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, short-term rentals and all other rental owners, managers, booking services and property managers shall notify any person making a reservation, rental or lease from out-of-state of the mandatory quarantine requirements and all other requirements of the public health and emergency orders contained herein.

PENALTIES

Violation of this order shall be punishable with a penalty not to exceed $500 and 90 days in jail per individual violation. Each additional or subsequent offense shall be considered a separate violation of this order. Businesses, including short-term rentals, may be subject to the suspension or revocation of their license to do business within the Town of Taos.
