Study the art of the personal essay and read the fundamental literature of the Southwest. Find out how Taos, a very unusual small town, became the focus of a state and nation during the 19th and 20th Century.

Take English 320 at UNM, spring 2011, Thu. Eve. from 6 pm to 8:45 with instructor Bill Whaley. Students will discuss style and voice for nonfiction writers and focus on the fundamentals of revision. We’ll look at academic papers, personal essays, letters, and research documents. And we shall read modern classical essayists to try and understand how famous authors achieve their effects. Learn from the best and have fun with the rest.

Remember the Four R’s: Writing and Reading, Re-reading and Revision.
