Emergency Alert: Genuine
TO ALL MEDIA OUTLETS: From Rick Bellis, Taos County
Due to the combination of the cell/internet outage throughout the County please alert the public that if they have an emergency or need to place an important call or any local call they may go to any county office (county administration, public works, etc.), EMS (Penasco and Taos), any county community center or any of the 11 county volunteer fire stations.
Supervisors at each of these facilities are being asked to be sure that they are staffed and open till 5pm or until service is restored.
Current projections by Century-Tel are that full wireless service will be restored throughout the county between 2 and 4pm today.
The disruption is believed to be due to a single breakage in an underground fiber optic cable just outside Eagles Nest.
Internet, phones and security systems at all county facilities are operational and continue to function without disruption. We will be open for business for normal work hours and shifts today at all locations.
Please disseminate this information to the public as soon as possible.
